quick update

I've been too busy to write like I want to, but here are some updates:
We had a great weekend with Tyler Hentschel and the folks from Insomniac Folklore.  The folks who came to the last house show were a lot of fun.  Thank you to Kevin Carr for showing up and inspiring us with songs from your heart.

We enjoyed having the Pleasant Peasants and Destroy Nate Allen over last month.
In two weeks We are having Kevin Schlereth and his family here for another house show.  They are a family band from St. Louis.  They have a 4 year old that is so good at drumming that it is rumored he has a sponsorship!

Mostly, we've been getting our house ready to sell.  It went on the market yesterday.  We are trying to get just what we owe on it.  We've been patching, texturing, painting, replacing toilet seats, light switch outlets, light covers etc. landscaping, having carpets washed, repairing chairs, sewing curtains, rearranging furniture, etc, etc,.
Meanwhile 11 people need clean clothes, baths and healthy food.
I think that hardest part is going to be keeping the house show-ready all the time and whenever we leave.  We are pretending to be the Ten Boom family.

We are hoping to temporarily rent a little house or mobile on some property so that the children can get their ya ya's out.  Let us know if you hear of a house sitting opportunity or something else that might work.  If you know us, you know that we enjoy squeezing into  little places.

Nehemiah's little book

Everyday I sit on the floor, couch or big chair with Mama.  She reads me Curious George and other books from the library.  I usually have to share her lap with Elsie, but at night Elsie falls asleep and I get Mama's lap for the rest of reading time.
Mama kisses, hugs and says, "I love you", to everyone when Papa is done reading.  When she comes to me she leans forward and tells me, "I'll come tuck you in after a little while".
I lay in bed and try hard not to fall asleep before she comes.  If I do fall asleep she still squeezes me and kisses me a bunch.  I know because she tells me so in the morning when I ask her.
If I need her during the night, she will come, but I try not to need her until the morning.

I always know that her Mama love for me is just for me and no one else.  She says, "I don't have 'a bunch of children',... I have you, Mia".

Saving Levina

This is a video made by our friends while they were in Ukraine adopting 2 little ones from this orphanage.  They are the happy boys in this video.  The small girls with shaved heads did not get saved in time.  They died before they experienced love.   This video is a little slow, but worth it.  Take a deep breath and take time to smell the flowers of compassion.

Ephraim's blog

Hi -------, today has been busy for me, it started out as a normal "shopping" day, along with all the distractions involved. I.E. noisy siblings, a small kitchen fire, and unloading the groceries when Mama got home.
Right in the middle of a phone call, three of my siblings rushed downstairs saying something about one of my hives swarming. I put my bee suit on, and hurried out to assess the situation. I had read a bit about catching swarms, so I wasn't very nervous at all, and went out to look at the place that my bees had decided to rest.
It was a bad situation. The bees were suspended twenty feet up in the air on a branch that was directly over a particularly dense piece of forest. My brothers Asaph and Zion and I began to cut away all the branches and foliage in the path of the branch. My sister Havilah climbed up the tree to cut and lower the branch down to where Asaph and I could shake the bees off. She tied it up so that it wouldn't fall to the ground.
When it came down it jerked and about half of the bees came off and started buzzing fiercely. We got away fast and decided to wait for them to calm down again. A member of our church group who is also a bee keeper came over to help us capture the swarm. We got them into the extra box that he brought. It was ironic that the only people who got stung were the ones with full bee suits. I myself got three stings, while the children with nothing but a veil got none.
