fear of virus is driving people apart

Everything in town is shutting down, schools, businesses, even churches,  and folks aren't shaking hands anymore.
One thing I love about shopping at Aldi's is this; You must put a quarter in the shopping cart to unlock it from the rest of the carts and then you get it back at the end when you replace it.
So many times I see someone hand their cart to someone else. Sometimes they accept the offered quarter and sometimes they don't. Either way it's a smile and a word among strangers. They handle the same coin and the same cart.
Not quite as good as sharing a Yerba mate straw with someone, but it's a step in a good direction. We all need touch to be happy. Maybe even more so now, when people are staying away from others and running to the grocery store to stock up on toilet paper.
Share a quarter and look into someone's eyes. This is a human need and a pleasure.
