August photo's

Yesterday we had a wonderful time at the private school near here. We were invited to play a concert for the students. I'm sorry that I didn't get any pictures of that show. Afterwards, many of them wrote us terrific reviews on cards that they presented us. They also gave us fudge and invited us to a big celebration this Friday which are planning to attend.
Today we had a great Spanish class and we're hoping to have the midwives over for a prenatal later this week. Every interaction that we have with Chileans is a good chance to improve our Spanish but it's very difficult. We can't rest when we have to work so hard to understand and be understood. Sermons are easy because I don't have to think of a response and it doesn't matter that I can't understand the meaning. I understand individual words, but there are so many gaps that the meaning is completely lost. I think it would be funny to have my thoughts in a bubble over my head during the sermon.
Last Sunday we visited a nearby church meeting. It was a great time of fellowship and worship. They meet outside in the sun so next week we'll need to wear sombreros. With their darker skin, they must not burn but, we all do.
We decided to let some of the children go to Sunday school as a way to learn more Spanish. That's different for us. I think that it was good. They didn't play games, they just talked the whole class time and then they gave us a Spanish bible to take home.

Subway (called Metro), It's not always underground and sometimes there are multiple levels.

Our front walkway. A Chilean lady, felt all over my abdomen (it's seems perfectly acceptable here for strangers to touch us and our children), then she said that my baby is a boy for sure because I'm carrying him straight out front. At least I'm pretty sure that that's what she was saying.

Ephraim and the Chilean flag. It's the law that every house has to hang a Chilean flag in September.
This is the view of the front from my 2nd story window.
