Sunrise over Chile

The first sight that I saw of Chile was the beautiful Andes mountains at sunrise.

We got through customs etc. and loaded into two van taxis to get to our new home. The taxi driver drove fast and crazy. So I spent my first hour away from the airport, squeezing Havilah's hand and praying. When we found our little house, Susan N. was here to receive us. She has been a tremendous help. She is only helping us because she wants to serve. We didn't know her or have any connections with her. She is from the US. Susan took some of us grocery shopping and to get a pre-paid bus pass (bip card). While we were out we met the director or the Christian school that Susan works for. He invited us to come play music to the students when school is back in session next month. We are excited for that opportunity.
When we got back home the children had cleaned and straightened our mess in the whole house to make it more homey.

Our first meal was eaten in the living room that night, before we read the bible. We had Chilean bread toasted with butter, soft fried eggs, apples, fresh pineapple, and pepinos which look something like large fresh figs but taste more like cantaloupe. Every fruit that we've tasted here so far has been exceptional. It's essentially organic and 3-6 times cheaper than we are used to.
