meanwhile, back in Chile.......

Ephraim is learning about running a business, building houses, speaking Spanish and keeping house. This is his first time on his own. He will be turning 19 on the 23rd of December. Keeping house in the cabin is simple and sweet. There is no power so water is heated on the wood stove for washing clothes, dishes or taking a bath. Cooking is also done on the wood stove. Then there is sweeping, keeping the clutter out, and cooking. He knows how to mend his clothes and shop so now he just needs more practice to get it all done every day before the sun goes down.

Our good friend in Chile, Andrea and her two children are going down to Patagonia for a month to see what the prospects are for making a living down there. Andrea's mother and possibly her brother and some good friends have moved there. She suggested that we look into it because there aren't many, (if any) English speaking folks in the area. In the town that she is interested in, there aren't restaurants or lodging for tourists. So, Ephraim is going to go with them to get a feel for it, meet people and pass on whatever he learns. They will fly down at the end of December. Who knows, maybe he could open up a kayak rental business. He always thought that would be interesting.
